Enabling execution through a focused and coherent approach to RinD capacity KS&L information sharing session, March1st, 2014, Penang
The challenge as defined by PLT • Gap between AAS teams’ (including all program staff and partners in countries) capacity to understand and implement the program RinD approach • There are varying degrees of internal and external capacity currently in countries • Different types of capacities are required at different levels of the program and implementation, depending on the country context and associated partner landscape • There is need for a coherent approach to capacity development for the program - various capacity development initiatives are already underway

Capacity to Implement the AAS approach to RinD Competencies, capabilities and capacities across 3 levels: Individual members of teams Implementation teams The innovation system Juan Ceballos, ICRA
Building integration and coherence Continue current approach of working with teams in context supporting reflection on their own practice of RinD Implement actions Implement appropriate actions – enhance ongoing work Analysis across hubs with strategic priority view • Team Assessments • Early identified needs Core RinD capacities id Teams are in place and evolving 2013
SLG Reflections • Whole team approach requires breaking down of silos across teams and staff • Need to think beyond the hubs and build RinD capacity across levels of the program – scientists working in themes and partners • Organizational dimensions of competencies and capacities need further engagement with CGIAR centers – IWMI, Bioversity & WorldFish
Next Steps • We will continue to use Facebook page and expand it to include the whole KS&L group that was in Penang and the gender team - some people need help on how to use it • We will use Google Docs as our main vehicle for document sharing - we need to build a KS&L folder and ensure everyone is shared on it - we might need to give simple guidance on use of CGxChangeemails • We will build discussions around specific areas of interest through email group - so we need to set up a full KS&L email group and include the gender team in this • We will look for opportunities to do peer assist and some suggestions were made to use the responses on the networking survey to help id potential opportunities for linking people up
