  3. Activity 1: Building a jigsawpuzzle • Cutthephotograph in foursquares. Giveonepiecetoeachstudent in thegroup. Theyhaveto describe whatthereis in thephoto and try toputittogether in thecorrectorder. • Teachsomelanguagefornegotiation: • Example. “ I think my pieceshouldgoonthe central part of thepicture( in theupperpart, lowerpart) because I can see/ thereis/are… etc.

  5. . • Activity 2: LookingforWally • Try toenlargetheimage and focusonthepeople in thephotograph.Pick up a person and describe whatthispersoniswearing and what he orsheisdoing. • Theothershavetoguesswhoyou’retalkingabout. • It’sanopportunityto revise vocabularyconnectedtosummerclothes.

  6. Activity 3. Groupstorytelling • We are goingto look at thescenethroughtheeyes of thepersonwhoisour “Wally”. • Use thefollowingpromptstobuild up a story: • Time : • What time isit? Isitmorning, afternoon? Whatseasonisit? • Place: • Whereisthisperson? What’sthename of thebeach? Isit a townor a bigcity? Where do youthinkitis? Etc …

  7. Person: • Build a profileforthisperson( name,age,job,nationality,hobbies etc..) • Action: What’s happening in thephoto? Whatisthepersondoing? Whatisthepersongoingto do afterwards? Eachperson in thegroup has tofocusononesection. After some time, theystarttellingtheotherswhattheyhave come up with. Thisactivity can alsobe done as a writingexercise.

Set a minimumnumber and a time limit. • Do a brainstormingsession and writesome of thequestionsonthebb, forallthegroupsto share. • Thenaskstudentstoroleplaythesituation. • OnestudentistheMartian and theotheroneisfromplanetEarth . Ask themtohave a littleconversation . • EncouragetheMartianto use someconversationgambitstoexpressinterest, surprise: • Oh really! • That’sunusual! In my planet ….. • Oh thatis so interesting! • 6. Reverse the roles after a while.
