Why not?

PANCHAYATIRAJ DEPARTMENT • Reservation of 50% of seats in Panchayati Raj Institutions • Reservation of the seat of vice chairperson in each tier in such places where the chairperson’s seat is reserved for male. • Minimum 30% attendance of women in Gram sabha for quram • Minimum 10% of attended voters of Pallisabha should be women • The fourth standing committee on each tier consist of only Women elected PRI members.

Preference to give work to women nearby their house. What can be done? • Reservation is not the panacea; but it throws up an excellent opportunity • Moving from critical mass to critical action • Capacity Building • Changing rotation rules • Deepening of democracy • Interface between Self-Help Groups and elected women representatives • Federating elected women
