What is a Recovery-Oriented System of Care (ROSC)? Provides a menu of prevention, treatment and support services that can be combined in different ways to meet the person in recovery’s specific needs and chosen pathway to long-term recovery
Elements of a ROSC • Promotes bringing everyone to the table and mobilizing the community as a resource for healing • Facilitates family and other ally inclusionin treatment and recovery • Facilitates a culture of peer support and leadership
Elements of a ROSC • Values partnership and transparency – we all need to work together – client self management • Provides holistic, individualized, person directed treatment, which supports multiple pathways to recovery – integrated services across the lifespan – continuity of care
Elements of a ROSC • Responsive and sensitive to culture • Creates mechanisms in the community for sustained support of recovery • Promotes hope • Provides services in a strength-based manner
Elements of a ROSC • Informed by data/outcomes and the experiences of Persons in Recovery (PIR) and families • Systemwide education and training • Adequately and flexibly financed CSAT (2007)(2009)
Why do we needa transformation toa Recovery-OrientedSystem of Care?
Transformation Process • Conceptual Alignment – All of the players need to be on the same page and agree on principles/goals. • Practice Alignment – Changing the way our system responds to persons in recovery, e.g., intervention, treatment, and recovery. • Contextual Alignment – Changing administrative and funding mechanisms.
