Stereotypes and their impact Disability Studies Infusion Project
Take out a piece of paper… • Write down the following: • THREE things that are TRUE about you • ONE thing that is a LIE about you • Goal: to make your lie the most outrageous yet believable
Next… • Count off by 8’s • Find your partner • Tell them your four statements • Did they figure out your lie?? • THEN…introduce your partner and their four statements to the class. See if class can figure it out as well!
Let’s Start With: Who is Dr. Kat? • I am an avid motorcyclist and have two bikes • I have an older sister, who is a golf trainer, used to train Annika Sorenstam, and is the only female trainer on the PGA tour allowed in the men’s clubhouse • I ate frosted flakes at an Inn in Germany when I was 2 years old • I have a Red Sox tattoo on my left shoulder blade (GO SOX!)
Where was I born? • Am I married? If so, for how long? • Do I have children? If so, how many? • What is my favorite kind of food? • What organized sports/physical activity do I participate in or have participated in? • Am I a good role model within my profession?
