  1. Study on the composite film’s fouling resistance and heat transfer performance By longfeihui 2011.12.01

  2. contents • Background • current work • Next plan • Thanks

  3. Background • Heat exchangers are most often seen facilities in the industry. during the process of the heat exchange, fouling is a seriously problem. • the fouling reduces severely the efficiency of the heat transfer, results in great loss of energy and even affects the safe of the equipment .

  4. Background • Observation and research on the fouling has been taken since 1920s, however, until now the fouling in heat exchangers is still an unsolved problem. • So it’s of great significance to find new methods to improve the fouling resistance of the heat exchangers. economically, it’s of great benefits.

  5. Background In China, just the loss results from fouling in thermal power is over 0.1% of GNP.

  6. Background Mechanical Cleaning physical means Online mechanical cleaning scale inhibitors chemical means Chemical cleaning agents surface engineering technology

  7. Background • Advantages of surface engineering technology • surface with a variety of functions and crystal form. • Thin surface coating films. • Saving energy and resource.

  8. current work • the fouling is difficult to stick onto the heat transfer surfaces with low surface free energy. • the micro-nano coatings as heat transfer surfaces are prepared on the substrates of stainless steel. • The fouling tests on the coatings are carried out in the fouling solution of CaSO4.

  9. current work • ShigehitoDeki prepared TiO2 films on the glass substrate with LPD method. • Zengzhenou prepared uniform and compact TiO2 coating surface on the 304 stainless steel. • It can be known from the literatures that TiO2 coating surface shows high fouling resistance and anti-corrosion performance.

  10. current work • On the basis of the former research, prepared TiO2-FPS composite coatings using fluoroalkylsilane. The composite films have a very low surface free energy and show hydrophobic properties.

  11. 1 2 3 The titania coatings are dipped with FPS solution to prepare the composite hydrophobic coatings (TiO2-FPS). Test the anti-corrosion performance and fouling resistance performance. The anatasetitania coatings are prepared on the substrate with LPD method • current work

  12. current work • Experiment process • Firstly, the stainless steel are polished and then ultrasonic cleaning with 10% NaOH solution, absolute alcohol and de-ionized water successively. • Prepare deposition solution with (NH4)2TiF6 and H3BO3 and use LPD method to prepare TiO2coating. After deposited for a certain time, the stainless steel was heat treated .

  13. current work • Experiment process • The prepared TiO2 coating surface was then dipped into the FPS solution for 2-3h and heat treated at 150℃ to prepare TiO2-FPS composite coatings. Surface prepared by this method shows high hydrophobic. • Test the performance of the TiO2 and the composite hydrophobic coatings in the pool boiling system.

  14. current work Hydrolysis reaction Adsorption and dehydration with titania substrate Polycondensation of FPS

  15. Next plan Next plan • Continue the coating surface preparing and pool boiling heat exchange experiment. • Attempt to enhance the anti-corrosion and fouling resistance performance of the coatings.

  16. Thanks for your attention
