  1. Brave New World Reading Preparation Get Ready for a Crazy New World

  2. Warm-Up (top left) • Choose two prompts with which to AGREE/DISAGREE. • Write 1-2 sentences explaining why.

  3. Prompt Choices • True happiness is never attainable. • It is wrong to control the physical and intellectual characteristics of humans before they are born. • Science and technology can help make the world a happier place. • Life would be better if everyone could legally take as many “Happy Pills” as they wanted, whenever they wanted, to be happy. • Sexuality is a personal choice that should not be influenced by other individuals or the community. • People who are mentally strong can never be brainwashed. • Family is not important or necessary in society if everyone helps each other out when needed.

  4. Cool-Down (bottom left) • Make a T-Chart. • Label the chart “Happy Things” and “Happy Choices”. • Brainstorm objects, events, and other things that make you happy for the “Happy Things” column. • Brainstorm choices that a person can make that will make him/her happy in the “Happy Choices” column. • Draw lines between the things and choices that match.
