District-Wide Use • Go to the website http://it.dadeschools.net/Edmodo/edmodo.htm and find your school’s Edmodo code: • Write it down • Share the school code with teachers/administrators of that school • Never share school code with students • Logon to http://miamidade.edmodo.com • For first time registration: • Create an Account • Select “I am a Teacher” button & enter your id, e-mail, and password • For continued use: • Enter your email or username, password, & press the login button.
Let’s Practice: Your Account • Go to Account Settings • Upload a picture • Uncheck notifications as needed(check direct messages, connection requests) • Go to Profile • Enter your favorite quote • Go Home • On left-hand side, BROWSE Communities • Pick a community • Follow it
Let’s Practice: JoiningGroups • Go HOME • Joinany/all of the following groups, using their codes: • 11-6-12 Train Media Specialists - 2h0och • Elem School Media Specialists - yhz7r5 • K-8 Media Specialists - onotbd • Middle School Media Specialists - vzl202 • High School Media Specialists - 9qf9xb • Select group 11-6-12 Train Media Specialist group, and do the following: • Post a message to the “wall” • Reply to a colleagues message • Upload a file to a message posting
Let’s Practice: Creating Groups • Go to HOME • Createa new group in your school ~ e.g. November Book Club • Give your new group code to a colleague and invite to join • Select the new group • Post a message on the wall of the new group • Check that your colleague got the message too
Let’s Practice: Adding to Library • Go HOME • Click on Library Link above • Create new folder, name it, and then select it. • Click Add to Library • Upload file or click on link • Press Add to Library button in dialog box • Share this Folder with 11-6-12 Train Media Specialist Group • Go HOME, and check on right hand side if folder appears for you and your colleagues
Media Specialists as School Admins of Edmodo? • Assist teachers in signing up for Edmodo by directing them to http://it.dadeschools.net/Edmodo/edmodo.htm • Create school-wide Edmodo groups for teachers, and disseminate these Edmodo group codes to teachers • E.g. Math Teachers Group • Create school-wide Edmodo groups for students, and disseminate these Edmodo group codes to students • E.g. Library Media Book-of-the-Month Group • Run analytics of the school’s use of Edmodo • Assist students in signing up for Edmodo by looking up their teachers’ group codes for their class

Create / Take Edmodo Badges • Go to Your Profile in Edmodo • See the badges given to teachers by Edmodo • Find another Teacher in Edmodo • Look up by school, or name • Go to their Profile link in Edmodo • Click on the link shared badges with your students • Select any of their shared badges, and add it to your collection • Reward your students with Edmodo badges • Select group • Go to manage group • Select student • Click,Award Badge button and select a badge to give to student
Edmodo for the Mobile Device • Go to the App Store for your Smart Phone • Select the FREE Edmodo App • Download and install it on your Smart Phone • Limited functionality is available on Edmodo App: • Posts • Notifications • Profile • Groups • Gradebook • Library
Sign Up for Edmodo Train-the-Trainer PD’s • For a day-long PD of hands-on Edmodo training, go to calendar.dadeschools.net and select 1 of the following training dates: • November 26, 2012 • December 10, 2012 • More PD sessions will be set up if needed.
