  5. Design Alternatives • Removal of 5 beautification dams • Replace with natural rocks • Diversion Canal • Go around 4th street dam • 4th Street Dam modification • Removal of east side • Removal of 4th Street Dam

  6. Preliminary Design • Combination of alternatives 1 and 3 • Replacement of downstream dams • Modification of 4th Street Dam • Reasons • Meets client’s needs • Improves fish habitat • Other alternatives not feasible • Sediment behind 4th Street Dam • Would look unnatural • Greater costs
