ATV71 FUNCTIONS Preset speeds Note: ATV61 has only 8 preset speeds
ATV71 FUNCTIONS Speed control • The ATV71 includes several motor control laws. • These different laws allow the drive to be adapted to a great variety of induction motors and machines. • SVC-U Voltage Sensorless Vector Control • SVC-I Current Sensorless Vector Control* • FVC Flux Vector Control (closed loop)* • U/F Volt/Hertz • SYN Synchronous motor (open loop) • (*) specific to ATV71
ATV71 FUNCTIONS Speed controlSVC-U Voltage vector control is a compromise between performance and robustness. It functions only in open loop Applications: Hoisting General material-handling equipment Machines requiring low speed torque Motors in parallel Unbalanced loads with the ENA function Performances: Good dynamic characteristics Overtorque from 170% to more than 200%, depending upon the motor and the optimization of the settings (current limit adjustable from 150% to 165% In of the drive) Nominal torque down to 1Hz (0.5Hz with optimization) in motor quadrant Nominal torque at slipping frequency in generator quadrant
ATV71 FUNCTIONS Speed controlSVC-U Performances (cont’d): Maximum frequency of 500Hz Speed precision <=10 % of nominal slip Speed range 50 in motor quadrant (100 with optimization), depending on the slipping in generator quadrant It can be used with motors in parallel Band pass: 0.37 to 2.2kW 15 Hz 3 to 7.5kW 12 Hz 7.5 to 75kW 10 Hz 280 kW 4 Hz 500 kW 2 Hz These performances are guaranteed for a motor of the same size than the drive and up to one size below. The input of the nameplate and the autotune are necessary to obtain the optimum performances.

ATV71 FUNCTIONS Speed controlSVC-I & FVC The current vector control law allows the drive to attain better static and dynamic performance for torque and speed Requires a good understanding of the motor characteristics It functions in open (SVC-I) or closed loop (FVC) Applications: Vertical hoisting movements High process rate machines Rapid material-handling Positioning Base law for the torque control function Performances: Very good dynamic speed and torque characteristics Overtorque from 170% to more than 200% (depending on motor) Maximum frequency 500Hz The motor nameplate information and TUN are required. Flux feedback permits the improvement of braking performance without a braking resistor
ATV71 FUNCTIONS Speed controlSVC-I & FVC Performance in open loop (SVC-I) The general performance is comparable to voltage vector control with better torque precision and better fluxed braking Can be used with motors in parallel if the motors are identical Nominal torque down to 1Hz (0.5hz with optimization) in motor quadrant Nominal torque at slipping frequency in generator quadrant Speed precision <=10 % of nominal slip Speed range 50 in motor quadrant (100 with optimization), depending on the slipping in generator quadrant Torque control mode: Precision 15% Up to +/-300% of nominal torque (Tn)

ATV71 FUNCTIONS Torque control
ATV71 FUNCTIONS Torque control • A speed range around the reference is adjustable (DBP, DBN). • Between these limits the drive is commanded in torque control • If a level is attained, the drive limits the speed
ATV71 FUNCTIONS Current / Torque limitation • The levels of current limit are adjustable • CLI current limit • CLI2 2nd current limit (activated by CLF=LIx) • SSB allows specific actions to occur in case of limitation (current or torque) • no -> no detection • alarm -> display + output assigned to STA • fault -> limitation fault SSF • ST0 sets the current or torque limit time (before the action specified by SSB) • By default CLI is set to 150% In drive, • it is possible to increase it up to 165%
