Economy, Money and Inflation • Housing and computers industries. • Agriculture fell from 19.2 to 7.5 percent after the world war 2 was over. • They were an increase in the minimum wage from $1.00 to $1.25 per hour and an extension of the minimum wage to a larger pool of workers, an increase in unemployment compensation plus increased aid to children of unemployed workers. • In early 1963 inflation was stable, corporate profits were at a record high, and the stock market had rebounded, but unemployment was still too high at 5.7 percent.

Clothing Styles • Girls would wear bouffant, a bouffant is a long dress but the top part of the dress is tight and the bottom half is puffed out, men wore tights. • Women wore float shoes and men wore sandals. • In 1963 Mary Quant started her own label, and she designed mini skirts, and colored tights.

  8. Price of a house • In the 1960s the price were between 3,500-28,00 dollars.

  9. Television/Music • Pop, Folk Rock, Psychedelic was popular in the 1960s. • If they danced to the music they would probably do the twist because it was popular back then. • Everything was black and white for the television.

  10. Fads • Skateboarding & surfing & roller skating started in California. • "The Beatles and Rock and Roll“, The Rolling Stones. • Martin Luther King

  11. Price of Gas • $0.31 a gallon in 1960-1962 • $0.30 a gallon in 1963 & 1964 it went down because of John F. Kennedy became president before him it was Dwight D. Eisenhower 

  12. Popular Cultures • This was the Decade of the Smiley Face found on anything and everything around the world including T Shirts , it's popularity was at it's peak in the mid to late 1960's

  13. Inventions/Technology • Douglas Englehart of Stanford University developed the computer mouse along with a five key "corded" keyboard in 1964. • In 1961, physicist Theodore Maiman perfected the laser, now widely used in surgery, holography, communications, and printing.
