CRITICAL CARE WORKING GROUPTM The Critical Care Working GroupTM at Kalra Hospital in New Delhi was convened with the understanding that the practice of critical care medicine is in its infancy across the world. The ability to shape the way critical care is delivered outside of developed nations is the primary focus of the working group. We understand that developing nations are limited by resources that exist for taking care of the critically ill. The reasons are multiple including the prohibitive cost, the lack of critical care training programs and inadequate infrastructure. We seek to improve access to multidisciplinary art of critical care medicine, improve the delivery of critical care medicine, and improve the overall care of the critically ill in the institutions we work in. Our goals will be met through educational conferences, and consulting with hospitals throughout New Delhi and India, as we develop the region’s next generation of critical care specialists. BARRY J. MARONTM HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY CENTER The Barry J. MaronTM Hypertrophic Cardiomyopa- thy Center at Kalra Hospital SRCNC Pvt. Ltd., un- veiled on September 27, 2014 at the Le Meridien in New Delhi by Dr. Barry J. Barry Maron and Ankur Kalra in their Euro- pean Heart Journal article, “at this time, expertise in HCM is underdeveloped and there are no estab- lished multidisciplinary centres in India specifically designed for the systematic assessment of patients with this disease. The center at Kalra Hospital has been established in recognition of this deficit. As Drs. Barry Maron and Ankur Kalra have written, HCM has not been a priority in India, and these patients have been underserved. Solutions are challenging and will take time, but can be best achieved by emphasizing HCM-related education and training, and also by developing multidisci- plinary programmes dedicated to this disease. He is a Harvard- and Cornell-trained board-certified advanced interventional and structural cardiologist with certifications in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine, and adult comprehensive echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography in United States. The mission of the HCM center at Kalra will be to appropriately manage patients with this complex disease, offering advanced cardiovascular imaging (including cardiac magnetic resonance imaging), clinic cardiac electrophysiology for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, genetic testing for patients’ family members where necessary and indicated.
