  4. Melissa Public Library Hours Monday: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Thursday: 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Sunday: CLOSED Story Time: Fridays at 10:15 a.m.

  5. Congratulations MFD Explorers! Seven (7) current Melissa High students and one Melissa Alumni, all members of the MFD Explorers Post 9500... earned four (4)  trophies Saturday at the Dallas Explorer Fire Games in Dallas. • 1st place in Physical Agility • 1st place in Bunker Gear & SCBA Relay • 1st place in CPR Movement • 2nd place OVERALL. Explorers:Leaders: Kaleb Hurst Rick Hurst Shelby Hurst Brad Wells Shane Jurca Colton Ellis Colton Spurgin Casey Waldrip Chase Schandelmeier Kelton Brewer -- graduated 2010.

  6. Need Help Disposing of Large Trash Items? IESI will collect bulk waste on the second Saturday of each month. The next pickup day is: October 9th Call (469) 452-8000 or email: iesimelissa@iesi.com for details and to schedule a pick up. Bulk items can include furniture, appliances (refrigerators must have certificate verifying that all Freon has been removed), extra trash and yard waste. Overall size must not exceed 5 cubic yards of debris per month and tree limbs & brush must be cut to 5 foot lengths and bundled.

  7. Collin County Cleanup Day On the first Saturday of every month Collin County in partnership with the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) hosts its “Collin County Cleanup Day” and from 8AM to 2PM. Residents must show proof of residency in Collin County and all loads must be covered. Collin County residents can drop off the following at the NTMWD landfill on Hwy 121 in Melissa at no charge: • Furniture • Appliances • Tires (max. of 4) • Boards, trees and tree limbs not exceeding 8 feet in length • Motor oil • Oil filters • General debris • Items not accepted are: • Chemicals • Paints • All batteries • Antifreeze The next Collin County Cleanup Day is Saturday, October 2nd

The City of Melissa welcomes all residents to make application to serve on one of our six boards and commissions: • Board of Adjustment • Melissa Industrial and Economic Development Corporation (4A) • Melissa Community and Economic Development Corporation (4B) • Melissa Library Advisory Board • Melissa Park Advisory Board • Planning and Zoning Board We now have an opening on the following Boards: • Board of Adjustment • Melissa Community and Economic Development Corporation (4B) • Melissa Public Library Board • Planning & Zoning Board You may pick up an application at City Hall or go to the Website at www.cityofmelissa.com and submit your completed application and a resume to the City Secretary’s office at City Hall.
