Tasks and Associate members Task 1:Exploration of a “distributed infrastructure” contact: MBI Berlin Task 2:Strategies to increase the spectral range contact: LLC Lund Task 3:Strategies to increase the average power of compact lasers contact: LOA Palaiseau Task 4:New cooperation concepts in fundamental research contact: LENS Firenze Task 5:Technology transfer and training contact: CLF, Rutherford Laboratories, Chilton Task 6:Diagnostic techniques and instruments, target fabrication contact: LULI Palaiseau Task 7:Data acquisition and analysis contact: GSI Darmstadt • Associate members • CELIA CELIA Universitè Bordeaux, France CELIA is a mixted research center CNRS-Université Bordeaux, performing the following scientific projects: • -Femtosecond lasers -XUV Harmonics, Ultra-fast processes, and applications - Ultra-intense electromagnetic fields, ions and plasmas • CESTA Université Bordeaux ICentre d'Etudes Nucléaires de Bordeaux-Gradignan, FranceThe ALISÉ facility is a new high-power chain in operation at CEA-CESTA near Bordeaux, France. It is first devoted to laser Science & Technology (damage threshold, smoothing, non-linear effects, frequency conversion, validation of code simulations, femtosecond physics…). In addition, the compression stage will be connected to a target chamber in order to reach ultra-high intensity (UHI) for laser-plasma interactions. • CUSBO Politecnico di Milano, Milano, ItalyThe Centre for Ultrafast Science and Biomedical Optics is a large facility in Italy within the field of lasers, optics and spectroscopy. Research is performed on ultrafast lasers, non-linear optics, high intensity laser-matter interactions, ultrafast processes in quantum confined materials, non-invasive optical characterisationof biological tissues, broad band fluorescence lifetime spectroscopy and imaging of diffusive media. • DRECAM Service de Physique de l‘Etat Condensè, Saclay, FranceResearches at the CEA-DRECAM are devoted to ultrafast photoscience and high intensity physics. Major efforts deal with the availability of a large spectral range, specially in the XUV domain, using High Order Harmonic Generation. Priority topics are the search for attosecond laser pulses and the increase of mean photon flux. • LRC Laser Research Center, Faculty of Physics, Vilnius, Lithuania LRC is leader in the development of femtosecond and picosecond ultra-high intensity parametric sources with continuous tuning in 0.20-18 mm range; it has extended experiences in parametric chirped pulse amplification, spectroscopic investigations with ultrashort light pulses, laser induced damage measurements and ultrashort-pulsed incoherent X-ray point sources triggered by picosecond and femtosecond laser pulses. • TU Vienna Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, AustriaAdvancement of the state of the art of ultrashort-pulse laser physics and technology with the aim to push the frontiers of nonlinear optics and time-resolved spectroscopy. Development of sources of intense, phase-controlled few-cycle laser pulses for the generation of sub-femtosecond XUV/X-ray pulses and few-femtosecond multi-MeV electron pulses. Development of attosecond metrology and spectroscopy.
