EWICS • EWICS = European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems – Industry/Academic group. • EWICS Goal: "To promote the economical and efficient realisation of programmable industrial systems through education, information exchange, and the elaboration of standards and guidelines"
EWICS Current Activities • Safecomp: • annual conference on the safety, security and reliability of computer systems. • Co-located conference ECCE this year, workshop on Critical Infrastructures and Grid next?
Activities • Groups: • Focussed on industry sectors: Rail, Medical Devices, Process Industry, Security Roadmap • Or, technology sectors: Formal Methods, Risk Analysis, Programmable Logic controllers • Create pre-standardisation guidance, exegesis of standards, working papers • Workshops – aimed at bringing mature research to an industrial audience (recently, security, formal methods, safety of medical devices)
Activities in DeSIRE? • Disseminating DeSIRE work by: • Organising industry/academic workshops aimed at demonstrating the application of DeSIRE research. • Coordination of pre-standardisation work in industry sectors – particularly important now. • Linking DeSIRE work to existing standards • Generic guidance on the application od DeSIRE techniques.
EWICS and AmI • The creation of industry-driven working groups working to create practical pre-standardisation guidance in the deployment of AmI technology in a range of industrial sectors. • Providing input to the standardization process for AmI technologies.
EWICS and AmI • Dissemination, education and community building through the organization of a workshop and meeting series to familiarizes industrial groups with the benefits and risks of adopting AmI technologies. • Reviewing and assessment of tools and technologies that are proposed be deployed in industrial computer systems. • Coordination of associated groups and national activities to cohere European policy on the adoption and deployment of AmI technologies in dependable settings.
