  2. AVMS – Home of the Falcons All 8th Grade Electives will be yearlong classes. There will not be a wheel in 8th grade.

  3. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Students will need to pick their top three elective choices.

  4. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Forms will be passed out on Monday in 4th period and are due on Friday to your social science teacher.

  5. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Advanced Art Drawing and painting, pastels, pen and ink, air brush Art Media (3D) Paper mache, wood burning, stone carving, plaster, gourd art, mosiacs and clay Arts & Crafts (2D) 2D character animation, build character out of polymer clay, paint, paper mache, wood, clay, mosiacs

  6. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Advanced Band All students are welcome, performances, competition fieldtrips Advanced Orchestra All students are welcome, performances, competition fieldtrips Chorus All students are welcome, performances, competition fieldtrips

  7. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Advanced Drama Learn all parts of the theater, stagecraft, stage management, script writing, dance, vocals, and participate in the production of the school play Culinary Arts Learn segments of food preparation, creation and presentation of foods from all cultures, developing recipes, and making food you get to eat Global Technology Digital animation, graphic design, web page creation, advanced audio and video production

AVMS – Home of the Falcons Robotics/Careers ½ the year in robotics and ½ the year in careers Robotics – Work in teams to make robots and participate in competitions and challenges each week with your team’s robot Careers – Take surveys to determine your areas of strength, research colleges and jobs that interest you, take fieldtrips to colleges & universities Yearbook Take photographs throughout the year, design yearbook pages, sell yearbook and coordinate 8th grade dedication ads

  9. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Spanish I Counts as a high school class. Study and learn the basic skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish. Spring fieldtrip to San Diego. English teacher recommendation or signed by Mr. Maldonado. AVID Designed for students who want to go to college but their parents did not go to college. Students need to want to do well in school. Class prepares you for high school and college requirements, teaches you how to get into college, and includes fieldtrips and guest speakers.

  10. AVMS – Home of the Falcons PAL Application required. Learn leadership skills, community and school service projects including canned food drive, pennies for pasta, red ribbon week, blue ribbon week, and recycling. ASB Application required. Learn leadership skills, plan and oversee school budget, fundraising, plan and organize all student activities including dances, lunchtime activities, dress-up days and special events.

  11. AVMS – Home of the Falcons PE Cross Age Tutor All A’s in PE in 7th Grade Required. Help PE teacher with setting up units, helping And modeling for students, and supporting the PE program. Office Aide Application required. Deliver call slips, assist teachers and office staff, sort and deliver mail.

  12. AVMS – Home of the Falcons Zero Period Allows you to have two electives – 8th graders only. Parents must sign zero period box agreeing to drive you. Zero Period Priorities are two of the following classes: Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Spanish, ASB, PAL, and AVID.

AVMS – Home of the Falcons Elective Open House Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday Next Week at Lunch – DUE FRIDAY 4/26 with PARENT SIGNATURE to Social Science Teacher Stop by to learn about the class and let the teacher know you are interested in taking the class by signing in so that teacher knows you want their class. YOU MUST SIGN IN TO CLASSES YOU WANT FOR NEXT YEAR!
