Simple, Four Line Rhyme Rhyming a,b, c, b: Mary had a little lamb Its fleece was white as snow And everywhere that Mary went The lamb was sure to go.

Cinquain A short poem consisting of five, usually unrhymed lines containing respectively two, four, six, eight and two syllables.
Cinquain Example: Popcorn Jumpy, bouncy White, yellow and bumpy Jumbly, rumbly, hot and mushy Popcorn.
Haiku Japanese poem of 17 syllables arranged in three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables. Syllable: a unit of spoken language that consists of one or more vowel sounds alone. “Sun” is one syllable and “sunshine” is two syllables.

Sonnet A poem of 14 lines, usually in iambic pentameter (stress is on the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th syllables of each line), restricted to a definite rhyme scheme. Shakespeare wrote sonnets.

Cinquain Cinquain is a highly structured form of poetry. Must pay attention to word choice, word meaning, syllabication, and parts of speech, while at the same time expressing a meaningful message.
