  2. Poetry Poetry is difficult to define. Poems use words to paint a picture in your head. A good poem brings out strong emotions in people.

  10. Simple, Four Line Rhyme Rhyming a,b, c, b: Mary had a little lamb Its fleece was white as snow And everywhere that Mary went The lamb was sure to go.

  21. Sonnet A poem of 14 lines, usually in iambic pentameter (stress is on the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th syllables of each line), restricted to a definite rhyme scheme. Shakespeare wrote sonnets.

  32. Cinquain Cinquain is a highly structured form of poetry. Must pay attention to word choice, word meaning, syllabication, and parts of speech, while at the same time expressing a meaningful message.
