  3. There is a Wat Tyler Road in Lewisham, London. There is also: • A Wat Tyler Country Park in Essex. • A Wat Tyler Way in Maidstone. • And the ‘Wat Tyler’ pub in Dartford.

  4. Why do people have things named after them? They are perceived as: • Important • Popular • Significant • Famous • Heroic • Any others?

  5. Should Wat Tyler have a road named after him? Road, Pub and Park names could be considered to be an historical interpretation of Wat Tyler.This lesson investigates if this interpretation of Wat Tyler as important, popular and heroic is correct.

  6. Pair up with a classmate. Your teacher will hand you a printout of the following screen, cut into 12 cards.

Wat Tyler changed people’s lives by standing up to the king. HRHRichard: I don’t think we should honour Wat Tyler he was a rebel who caused damage and chaos. We should recognise people who work for the country not against it.
