  3. I began my yoga journey rather fortuitously, stumbling upon a lunchtime Iyengar yoga class. At the time I was employed and in a ‘stressful’ job, I was also suffering with severe neck pain from an injury sustained from a car accident. I can still recall vividly my very first yoga class, having just walked out of a stressful environment into a tranquil, welcoming and comforting silence. I remember vividly, the room, the colours, the smell of incense, the soft voice of the teacher and the way I felt during and after that class. I came out of that class feeling alive, relaxed and whole. I guess you could say that was the beginning of my ‘journey’ and ‘transformation’. I was hooked and my passion and curiosity for all things yogic grew. Yoga provided me with the tools and techniques I so needed to manage my stress and physical issues and today yoga continues to provide me with so many answers on and off of my mat. I went on to develop my passion and I tried many styles of yoga and along the way met some amazing and inspiring teachers. I then went on to complete the BWY Foundation Course and it was during this time that I learnt so much more about what yoga has to offer and what yoga truly is. Feeling inspired by the course and having experienced the benefits of a regular yoga and meditation practice I wanted to share my passion with others so I embarked upon the BWY Teacher Training Course. And I suppose you could say the rest is ‘history’. I see my role not so much as ‘teacher’ but as a health and wellbeing ‘facilitator’, "our bodies are our teachers”, my role is to facilitate the learning and transformation process and offer you the ‘student’, the tools and techniques for self- management, growth and development. I believe learning should be fun so if you are thinking of embarking on the yoga journey you will have fun along the way. Your Course Tutor - Barbara Ives
