HC&A Initial Audit Process • HC&A goal is to provide a structured audit report detailing recommendations aimed at reducing frequency and severity of loss, and obtaining compliance with NERI captive requirements and applicable regulatory agencies.
HC&A Initial Audit Process • HC&A audit covered items including; • Pre-Employment Hiring Practices • Review of Safety Committees • Loss Analysis • Written Safety Programs • Training Records • Post Injury Management • Fleet Safety • If possible, HC&A physically audited jobsites. Recommendations were made detailing areas in which HC&A suggests improvement based upon our comprehensive experience in loss prevention within the industry
HC&A Initial Audit Process • HC&A typical recommendations; • 02-07: <company name>should implement a comprehensive Jobsite Inspection Program. The deficiencies found during HC&A inspections of <jobsites> highlight the need for such a program. There are many benefits to this program. Those benefits include; hazard recognition, determining areas of needed training, documenting a lack of compliance to justify disciplinary action, tracking frequencies of violations, etc. Jobsites are currently being inspected informal and infrequently. No documentation is created. Jobsite safety forms shall be made available for low-sloped roofing, steep-slope roofing, and scaffolding systems as part of the safety and loss control service provided by HC&A. • 03-07: <company name> should ensure that an effective Tool Box Talk program is being implemented. Tool Box Talks are a great method of providing refresher training, and also provides another source of training documentation. These talks promote safety on the project routinely, and must be conducted in a professional manner. Foreman who read these talks should be aware of the company’s expectations of how to conduct them.
Today Goals • Provide NERI members with resources so that the recommendations made by HC&A can be effectively implemented. • Reinforce the importance of HC&A’s recommendations towards preventing accidents and injuries, and minimizing incurred losses. • Explain the roles & responsibilities that NERI Safety Representatives have within this Captive Program.
