  2. Secure Loops What do they do? • Tell you that an area is ready for beam. Where are they? • West End (CID, LI00, DRIP, NDR, SDR) • 2 thru 29 (LI02 – LI29, e+ vault) • 30 – MCC (LI30, BSY, FFTB, x-ray hutch, ESA, NARC, SARC) • PEP (IR2-IR12, NIT, SIT)

Set Entry Loops What do they do? • Tell you that the radiation hazards common to a collection of zones are off. • Each PPS zone may have additional zone-specific radiation & electrical hazards that need to be off for entry. • Serves as an acknowledge from operations that a LINAC entry is desirable (there’s no CA), enabling keybank releases. (LI00 & LI30 oddities). Where are they? • West End • 2 thru 30

  4. Purpose of the new panels • Training • Operator Training books are PPS ZONE specific. This should help show how the zones fit into the broader world of PPS for making beam or setting entry. • Current documentation not geared for operator use • Troubleshoot • Q: “I just had a secure loop fault. What caused it?” • A: Trace it backwards to the source. List all possible inputs (even those without remote readback). • Q: “I can’t set entry to the LINAC. Why?” • A: List all requirements.

Panel Demonstration… • Current Status • Set Entry Loop Logic Completed • Secure Loop Logic Completed (except PEP) • Several Zone Secure Loops Completed • Using EPICS dm2k • See e-mail for how to access the test panels • Future Improvements • EPICS dm2k soon to be discontinued; should import easily into EPICS edm • Add more PPS & ready for beam diagnostics • Available from SCP (“in production” with color sets)
