  1. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Example for Sea Use Planning: Fishery Jürgen Autsch

  2. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Sea Use Planning: Fishery • 1.) Introduction • 2.) Content of the study • 3.) Task of the consultant • 4.) Proposals of the consultant • 5.) Conclusions

  3. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Current and future demands in the offshore areas • Rapidly growing use interest for offshore areas • Conflicts became more frequent • Two-dimensional decisions are less satisfying • Coordination off different use interest became more complex

  4. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Requirement of sea- uses and potential for development: • Tourism (e.g. boat tourism) • Sand/gravel extraction • Cables (electricity, telecom) and pipelines • Shipping routes/anchorage areas • Military practise areas • Wind farms and connecting cables • Fishery and aquaculture • Nature protection Bernhard Heinrichs: Development zoning in Baltic Sea Bay areas

  5. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Fishery and aquaculture • Idea: Definition of marine reserve area for fishery • Possible criteria: relevant fishing areas, spawn conserve areas, fish conserve areas

  6. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Task of the consultant • Stocktaking:Investigation of relevant basic data and information for the relevant fishing areas, spawn conserve areas, fish conserve areas. • Characterising the spawn conserve areas, fish conserve areas (use conflicts, potential threat ) and results presented in GIS-based maps. • Characterising relevant fishing areas ( commercially relevant species, fishing tools, closed seasons, spatial and temporal extend of fish catches in coastal waters, expected / potential use conflicts, potential threats) and results presented in GIS-based maps.

  7. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Task of the consultant • Analysis: • Overlap of the different information and use interests • Classification /quality rating of the relevant fishing areas, spawn conserve areas, fish (breed) conserve areas • Result : • Proposals for deviation of spatial categories

  8. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Data Base • Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery • State Office for Agriculture, Food Security and Fishery • Information from different projects and internal data of the consultant • External experts

  9. Example: Fishery and aquaculture “fishing locations”

  10. Plan Coast Study Tour 7/2007 Jürgen Autsch Objectives of the study • Proposal for an area categorie in the SSP:reservation area: ”areas with special protection function of the natural base of fish fauna” • No area categorie in the SSP:“relevant fishing areas”

  11. Result: Fishery and aquaculture“Areas with special protection function of the natural base of fish fauna”

  12. Example 3: Fishery and aquaculture “Fishing areas”
