OKI 920 WT G GO O OKI pro920WT White Toner Solution QUICK FAQs Q. What makes the OKI pro920WT a game changer? A. The OKI pro920WT is the ONLY LED printer to offer white toner, high speed capabilities and a sturdy industrial design cre- ated for hard use. The pro920WT offers dependable high speed tabloid printing for transfers and graphics. Not only are col- ored and black substrates no longer off limits, but new markets are created with the possibility of using white toner. Value, performance, and exciting new white toner all backed by the trusted OKI name proves an unbeatable combination. Q. What colors are the toners? A. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and White. Q. Is white toner interchangeable with black toner in the pro920WT? A. Unfortunately, white toner is not interchangeable with black toner in the pro920WT. The 920 uses a special line of toners engineered to work uniquely with the 920 system. Q. How is black produced if there is no black cartridge in the OKI pro920WT? A. While black toner is not included in the pro920WT, with the impressive combination of CMY, this composite black won't leave you missing the extra K. Q. Can the white toner be imaged at the beginning and/or end of the printing process? A. The toner is placed down in this order: CMYW Q. What is the white toner configuration? A. The white toner cartridge is located at the end, so that white is the last color imaged. The 920 includes the option to print white only or turn "off" the white toner if at any point you wish to only print CMY. Q. Is OKI the only LED/laser manufacturer offering white toner? A. Yes, OKI is the first printer manufacturer to offer white toner. While companies continue to attempt to manufacture white toner, there are no other major printer manufacturers successfully manufacturing white toner. Q. What is the shelf life of OKI toner? A. Toner will not go bad unless it experiences notable climate change. While moisture is minimized with the provided plas- tic sealed sleeves, heat is the biggest enemy. If the toner becomes too hot, it will fuse together as it is polymer based. To be safe, suggested shelf life of the toner is one year, assuming it is used one year from purchase date. If the toner is in a cli- mate controlled warehouse (no extreme temperature/humidity changes), the shelf life increases to two years. Q. How easy is it to operate the printer and the system? A. Operating the printer is as easy as using a desktop printer. Q. How does the printer know where to place white? A. The printer will place down a layer of white toner last. Depending upon the image file or photo editing software you choose to use, this process may vary slightly. If you are printing with a vector file, white toner will print where the image has white in addition to placing down a final layer of white with some varying density based on each color in the image. For instance, white will not be placed behind black. We have found superior results from Adobe Illustrator and original files, but you can print from any file. OKI 920 WT G GO O Q. How often does your printhead clog? A. Never. The 920 does not have printheads and never experiences any clogging. Q. What type of warranty or guarantee is offered for the printheads? A. OKI's LED arrays are warrantied for five years. QUICK FAQs Q. How often do the LEDs need to be replaced? A. The LED arrays rarely have to be replaced and offer much better results than inkjet printheads. Q. What type of maintenance must be done each day? A. There is virtually no maintenance needed on the OKI pro920WT. Q. What is the speed for a letter sized image? A. An image is printed every two seconds. Q. What types of media can be used in the 920? A. The 920 can handle a variety of media including printing paper, transfer paper, cling, vinyl, art paper, cardstock and more. Q. Will the white drown out the other colors if I am printing to media other than transfer paper? A. It is recommended to turn off the white toner if printing to media other than transfer paper or cling as white toner is placed down last. Q. What types of transfer paper do you have? A. Graphics One offers a variety of weedless and non-weedless transfer papers in addition to low temp and hard surface paper. Q. What are the differences in the papers? A. Weedless transfer paper does not need to be cut with a contour cutter prior to heat transferring, whereas a non-weed- less paper must be 'weeded' if no background is desired. Q. What is the difference between laser and LED? A. LED printers use a multiple pixel-size light source with thousands of LEDs to recreate an image. Instead of a traditional printhead, LED consists of an array of solid state light emitting diodes for light generation built across the width of the drum. Laser printheads use a single light source; however, the laser beam is aimed at a revolving mirror that reflects the beam through a series of lenses, off a mirror and finally to an image drum. LEDs are more efficient and reliable than conventional laser printers as they have no moving parts. Given the number of mov- ing parts, laser printers can be costly and time-consuming to repair - a problem 920 owners do not face. Q. Does the printer manufacturer offer on-site warranty in the U.S. and Canada? A. A one year on-site warranty comes standard for the U.S. and Canada.

Note that all trans- fer paper varieties should be printed using updated Media Weight Settings, unless otherwise specified. To begin the printing process with the OKI pro920WT, insert paper into the Multi Purpose Tray (MP Tray). The pro920WT's tray will auto- matically recognize the paper and rise into position. Inserting paper into the OKI 711WT will require the tray to be popped into place. Transfer paper is best when placed in the MP Tray as it is less likely to jam, and can also pass directly through the printer achieving the most consistent results. Place the transfer paper print (blank) side up. If the printing process has begun and the printer is requesting the presence of paper, please press the "Online" button after inserting paper into the MPT. If you choose to print through the bottom Tray 1, the paper must be placed print side face down. Now you are ready to print. OKI pro920WT and OKI 711WT GO The proper media weight settings are necessary for achieving the best output from the pro920WT and 711WT. Why? The pro920WT and 711WT offer a range of media settings which influence the image transfer strength, speed and fuser temperature. The fuser unit melts the toner image to the media traveling through the printer. When choosing the Media Setting you are actually adjusting the imaging of the toner based on the speed the media travels through the printer and the temperature of the fuser. Thus, choosing the appropriate Media Setting can greatly improve the print quality. 1. You can print a file from any photo editing software or file type with the pro920WT and 711WT. It is important to note, however, vector files and files with transparent backgrounds are preferable. If you have printed a file with a white background, please see the Imaging Instructions document. The vector file below is in Adobe Illustrator. Once you have the desired image, press Print. This will prompt printing options onto your screen. APP GUIDE 2. Make sure the appropriate printer is selected before continuing to customize settings (OKI pro920WT or OKI 711WT). 3. Click Setup, Preferences, then Advanced to find Media Setting. Choose the Appropriate Media Setting. To find recommended settings, please refer to the Transfer Paper Configurator. The Media Menu on Page 1 may also be utilized. Perhaps the most critical of the three is pressure. The variances in problematic output are dependent upon the paper being used, but there are a few recognizable features when something is amiss with the above three variables. When using weedless transfer paper: If coating from the paper transfers along with and outside of the intended image, usually the tem- perature is too high. Try knocking down the heat five-ten degrees. If, on the other hand, the toner is not transferring off the paper entirely, try one of two things: The pressure either needs to be increased, or a few more seconds should pass before the paper is peeled. If the paper is simply not transferring, the pressure should be increased. If only a small bit of toner remains on the paper, try waiting an additional few seconds before peeling. If too much time has passed and the paper is stuck to the shirt, you can repress the paper and peel as usual. When using 2.0: The first step of 2.0 is the most sensitive. It is important to use medium pressure, and wait a couple seconds before peel- ing. If the image is transferring to the B sheet, too much pressure was used (it can also be that the paper cooled too much prior to peeling the A sheet from the B sheet). If little bits of the coating from the B sheet are missing on the A sheet, then increase the pressure slightly. When the settings are correct, the coating from the B sheet will transfer evenly across the toner imaged on the A sheet.
