Revelation 2:12-15 and other biblical passages warn against false teachers who distort doctrines and deceive with ulterior motives. Revelation 2:13 I know where you live – where Satan’s throne is! And you are holding on to My name and did not deny your faith in Me, even in the days of Antipas, My faithful witness who was killed among you, where Satan lives.
Revelation 2:14-15 14 But I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam…. 15 In the same way, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
The false teaching of Balaam You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block in front of the Israelites: to eat meat sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality. Revelation 2:14

False Teachers …(false teachers) overthrow whole households by (content:)teaching what they shouldn’t (motive:) in order to get money dishonestly. Titus 1:11
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly bring in (content:) destructive heresies, even denying the Master…. (motive:)They will exploit you in their greed with deceptive words. 2 Peter 2:1, 3

So what do we do now? Keep your eyes open, don’t be gullible, and “test” what you hear. BUT, don’t “play angry.” Live with joy and trust! Don’t be too eager to label someone as a false teacher.
The people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, since they welcomed the message with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Acts 17:11
So what do we do now? If you determine that someone is a false teacher: stop listening to them, or listen with exceeding discernment
