Similarities & Differences • Similarities • Both of them want to produce talented students who can serve the society with their capabilities. • Both of them don’t have exact ‘deadline’ for their vision and mission • Both of them are vague. They are so indistinctive that they can apply to any of schools in the world.
Similarities & Differences • Differences • Vision and mission of Stanford is more globalized than those of KNU. • Vision and mission of Stanford is more interactive than those of KNU, KNU only focuses on what ‘the school’ aims and does(One way), While Stanford mention what the school does as well as what the students are supposed to do. • Vision of KNU mentions ‘ranking’ while there is nothing about ‘ranking’ in the vision of Stanford. • KNU has detailed sub-visions, For example, they have a vision called ‘GOAL 2010’, while Stanford only has one main vision.
Problems • KNU • not going into detail and therefore not meeting the criteria given in the book, for instance: • directional: no direct product/market/customer/technology description that the reader knows in how far those will help KNU or students being prepared for future • Flexible: it is not specific enough in order to give a profound guidance • Stanford • they are givingguidelineand they are going into detail, but they might not give a deadline, and therefore it might lack in certainty of guidance
