  2. Definition • Ovarian cancer is cancer of the ovaries. Women has two ovaries next to the uterus.

  3. Kinds of Ovarian cancer • There are three kinds of ovarian cancer: • * Begins outside the ovaries • * Begins in the egg-making cells • * Begins in hormone-making cells

  4. Causes • It is not exactly known what causes ovarian cancer; however, it is believed that normal cells acquire an abnormal cell mutation.

  5. Signs and symptoms • Some of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer are abdominal swelling, pelvic pain, change in bowel and bladder movements, and low back pain.

  6. Diagnosis • In order to diagnose ovarian cancer the doctor will do a pelvic exam. An ultrasound and blood test may also be done. Finally, surgery to get a testing sample may be performed.

  7. Treatment • Surgery is the most common treatment for ovarian cancer. After that chemotherapy is needed in most cases to kill left over cancer cells.
