Plaza Mayor of Madrid • Located in the city of Madrid, Spain • One of the major tourist attractions • The Plaza Mayor measures 394ft x 295ft • Was first destroyed in fire accident and later rebuilt in 1790 • Center where a number of public executions, bull fights, markets, soccer games take place Back to main menu
La SegradaFamilia • Large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Spain • Designed by Antonio Gaudi • The church is still incomplete to this day after 100 years • There is a charge for the services and must book in advance • Expected to be completed by 2041 Back to main menu
Alhambra • Part fortress, part garden, and part palace • Sits on a plateau overlooking the city of Granada, Spain • Constructed in the 14th century • The entire building is made of red clay • Beautiful Islamic architecture Back to main menu
The Royal Palace • Located in the city of Madrid • Home of the King of Spain • Built between 1738 and 1755 • Palace is bordered by a large park that gives a perfect view of the palace • The royal army museum is located in the west wing Back to main menu
Plaza Toros Las Ventas • Home of bullfighting in Madrid • Third largest bullring in the world • Designed by Jose Espeliu • Bullfights are held every Sunday between March and December • June 17, 1931 was the first bullfight in the Plaza Back to main menu
Cuenca • Northeast of the Castile-la Mancha region • Capital of the province is the city of Cuenca • Example of a medieval city in Spain • “Hanging houses” are built right on the edges of the mountains • Has some of oldest cave art in Spain Back to main menu
La Concha • Located in San Sebastian, Spain • Said to be one of the best beaches in Europe • Beach is protected from strong winds by steep cliffs and islands • Boats run from the beach to the island of Saint Claire every half hour • The nature around this beach is not found anywhere else in Europe Back to main menu
Museo del Prado • Main Spanish national art museum located in the city of Madrid • The collection of arts is from the 12th century to the 19th century • Large number of works are from Francisco de Goya, Diego Valazquez, and Peter Paul Reubens • collection currently comprises around 7,600 paintings, 1,000 sculptures, 4,800 prints and 8,200 drawings Back to main menu
