CS/EMBS Austin Chapter Vision • Computer Society Chapter is a community comprised of a diverse group of industry professionals with a common interest in advancing computer science & Biomedical technologies. Mission Statement • The IEEE Computer Society Chapter seeks to be the organization of choice for computer science technologists in the Central Texas Area and to provide education and networking for those professionals. 2017 Chapter Objectives: • Theme: “Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Big Data/Analytics in context of Healthcare and wellness” • Hold monthly high quality technical meeting • Distinguished Lecturer/Speaker • Community Outreach Project – STEM value add to “2017 IEEE Innovation Summit in Health and Technology” • Support in creating the right environment for EMBS chapter growth. • Feedback form • Website & Listserv & Social media • Chapter financial health

2017 SWOT • Opportunities/Challenges • Opportunities – Outreach • Continue applying best of practices building the chapter. • Collaboration with ComSoc/SP • Initiated EMBS chapter in Austin (Jan. 2017) • Carried the first IEEE event in Austin about Health & Technology (Sept. 6) • STEM activities at 2017 IEEE Innovation Summit in Health and Technology • Reach out and organized sessions at IEEE BHI and Himms/IHP • DL opportunities to speak to several sections in US • Gradual build up of website – currently addressing “2017 Innovation Summit in Health and Technology” • Received promotional material from CS and EMBS for the summit • Challenges - Financial & Others • Seek funding from CS • Seeking fund from EMB • CS & EMBS Joint Chapter - Improve attendance • Weakness • Continue building the chapter • Draw attendance with more speakers from the medical community • Progress in building Word Press website
