  3. Graduation Requirements • Students must pass FIVE tests in order to receive a high school diploma: writing, English, math, science, and social studies. This can be EOCT or GHSGT. • If a student does not pass an EOCT in each subject, then they take the GHSGT in that subject area.

  4. Writing test – October 3rd(retake Feb 27th ) • EOCT Schedule Science – December 4-5 ELA – December 4-5 Social Studies – December 10-11 Math – December 10-11

  5. Graduation Tests for 1st time juniors: March 18th-21st • Graduation Test Retakes: November 5th -8th

  6. Domains of GHSGT Tests Components of the GHSGT Each Graduation Test has several domains which are weighted differently. Below is a list of each test, domain, and corresponding percentage. English/Language Arts 48% Reading Comprehension 38% Literary Analysis 14% Conventions/Writing Mathematics 36% Geometry 36% Algebra 28% Data Analysis Science Cells and Heredity Ecology and Biodiversity Structures of Property & Matter Energy Transformations Forces, Waves, Electricity Social Studies American Govt/Citizenship US History to 1865 US History since 1865 Geography World History GHSGT Passing Scores ELA—200 Math—200 Science 200 SS— 500 GHSGT Pass Plus ELA—235 Math—535 Science—235 SS—526

Transcript Analysis • Junior transcripts were reviewed to verify that students were on the correct path for success on the graduation tests. • Areas of concern: • If a student has no credits in Math I or Math II, they will need to sign up for tutoring. • If a student has failing EOCT scores in Math I and/or Math II, they should sign up for math tutoring. • If a student has failing EOCT scores in English classes, tutoring is needed. • Students need exposure to both biology and physical science in order to be successful on exam (if the biology EOCT was failed) • Juniors currently in US History have the opportunity to not take the SS GHSGT in March 2013 if they pass the EOCT in December!

  8. Tutoring: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays Bus Transportation Provided Semester 1 GHSGT Reviews (Semester 1):no transportation provided. Saturday October 20th Saturday, October 27th Saturday, November 3rd Additional Reviews will be offered Semester 2

  9. Tutoring continued… EOCT reviews have been planned (you have a handout with the information) Registration forms and additional information will be on the Steps to Success blog!

Parent & Student Resources GHSGT & EOCT Practice Tests and Worksheets - www.usatestprep.com Go to “Member Login” School ID: “Campbell” You can either use your user name and password from last year or “create an account” If you need to “create an account” the student activation code is newton80 Click on any subject you wish to review and then choose one of the GHSGT or EOCT practice tests. When you are finished with the test and it has been scored, be sure to review your missed problems and the suggested correct answers

  12. Parent Guide Lesson #7 (Data Analysis) Question: How do you determine central tendency? The term "measures of central tendency" is a fancy name for mean, median and mode.  Mean:Average. The sum of a set of data divided by the number of data. Do not round your answer unless directed to do so. Median:The middle value or the mean of the middle two values, when the data is arranged in numerical order. Mode:The value (number) that appears the most. It is possible to have more than one mode, and it is possible to have no mode. If there is no mode-write "no mode", do not write zero (0). Range:The difference between the greatest and least pieces of data. Examples Find the mean, median, mode, and range for the following data: 5, 15, 10, 15, 5, 10, 10, 20, 25, 15 Listing the data out in order is the easiest way to find the median. The numbers 10 and 15 both fall in the middle. Average these two numbers to get the median.      10 + 15 = 12.5
