Theme Verse Deut 30 15 "See, I have set before you today life & good, death & evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, & to keep His commandments, His statutes, & His judgments, that you may live & multiply; & the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
1) God Relates to Us Based On His Mercy- Psalm 145 8 The Lord is gracious & full of compassion, Slow to anger & great in mercy. 9 The Lord is good to all, & His tender mercies are over all His works.
Mercy is not great until it is put in the context of judgment. God is the judge, that is His function, but mercy is His character, that is His choice. God exercises mercy, knowing our weakness.
Lam 3 21 Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: 22 The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. NLT
Lam 3 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day.NLT
Some would say mercy shows weakness, but mercy is the quality of having superior strength, but choosing to show gentleness, kindness & restraint.
Micah 7 18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin & forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
Micah 7 19 You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot & hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
Is my relationship with God based on His mercy or upon my own righteousness? Will I let God’s mercy into my heart today?
2) God’s Mercy Changes Our Relationship with Him- Psalm 103 8 The Lord is merciful & gracious, Slow to anger, & abounding in mercy. 9 He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.

God’s mercy, which is the basis of His forgiveness in Christ, allows us to relate to God in a forgiven state.
God no longer see us as those set against Him in sin, but as those accepted by Him in Christ.
Titus 3 3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts & pleasures, living in malice & envy, hateful & hating one another.

Am I standing in forgiveness close with God through His mercy or do I stand far off from God in fear of my sins?
