Fire Danger Index Catastrophic - 100+ Catastrophic - 100+ Catastrophic - 100+ Catastrophic - 100+ Severe 50 to 74 Extreme – 75 - 99 Severe - 50 to 74 Very high - 25 to 49 Calculation of the index is based on a number of factors: Weather – drought (days since last rainfall), temperature, wind, relative humidity, soil moisture Fuels – build up of vegetation and fine fuels, fuel moisture Topography Risk of incidents – lightening strikes, human factors Very high - 25 to 49 High - 12 to 24 Moderate - 6 to 11 High – 12- 24 Lowto moderate - 0 to 11 Low - 0 to 5
