HOSPITAL’S PHARMACY IN IFAKARA Kostakou Erietta Pharmacist
3 STORAGE FACILITIES • Storage for patients (dispensing room) • Storage for drugs (antibiotics, narcotics, anti-malaria etc) • Storage for pharmaceuticals
Drugs depend on Season! • Dry season (November-April): malaria, diarrhoea, cholera corresponding treatment • Rain season (May-October): respiratory disease antibiotics + corresponding treatment
Drugs depend on Day! • Wednesday: diabetic incidents anti-diabetic drugs • Thursday + Friday: cardiac incidents drugs for cardiovascular disease
Hospitals buy the drugs from the government but who does pay? • Drugs free for persons of the government, who pay by credit and the money is kept from their salary • Drugs not free for the others, who have to pay by cash!
What if somebody has no money? • No money no treatment! • Exceptional group of patients who are in an emergency situation and don’t pay. (But when somebody is in emergency here?!)
Conclusion • Donations have decreased… • People are starving… • People are poor… • Drugs cost them a lot…( 1 tabl.depon costs 0,004€ in Africa/ 0,025€ in Greece )
And what do we do?.. « All animals are equal……..but some are more equal than others…» George Orwell
