The Flower • Small • Yellow
Bracts • Leaves that give poinsettias their color • The common color is red • Short days are required for flower production which causes the bracts to turn colors • The flower buds will occur naturally in late September and early October
Propagation • Stock plant-- Parent plant • Cuttings are taken from a stock plant
Propagation • Rooted cuttings • Arrive in a wedge-shaped oasis cube • Calloused cuttings • Take more time to root • All cuttings are patented plants
Temperature • 65-70 degrees at night • 70-75 degrees during the day
Finishing Poinsettias • Good ventilation and air circulation • 75-80 degrees day time temp • 64-66 degrees night time temp
Pinching • Removes the the terminal end of the plant • On small plants for of five leaves should remain • Increases the number of bracts per plant • Causes the plants to be fuller
