Hussainsagar Lake- Background • Constructed in 1562 AD to meet the irrigation needs • Drinking water source from 1884 to 1930. • Total catchment area = 240 Sq. km • Maximum water spread area of the lake = 5.7 Sq. km • Present Water spread area @ FTL = 4.81 Sq. km • Shore line length = 14 km • Volume of the Lake at spill level = 27.18 Mcum • Average depth at full capacity = 5.02 m • Full Tank Level (FTL) = 513.43 M 2

Construction Of Sewerage Facilities Sewage Diversion • 1600 mm dia Ring Sewer main of length of 2.5 Km from Necklace road to Manhole No. 88 of Duplicate K&S Main opposite to Sailors Club for diverting the Kukatpally Nala flows • Diversion Trunk Main at Rangadhamini of length 1.15 km • 1400 mm dia Balanagar Sewage Trunk Main of a length of 4.85 km from the confluence point of Jeedimetla and Kukatpally Nala to Ring Sewer at Necklace road • Sewer Network over a length of 15.05 Km in Cantonment area is taken up under 4 Packages by HMWS&SB 23

Khairatabad Flyover – Upgradation – Tertiary level – Membrane treatment • 5 Mld on RangadhaminiCheruvu • Treated good quality water is let in the lake • For maintaining water balance in the lake

Protection of Lakes and Nalas in Catchment Areas • There are about 80 lakes in the catchment area of Hussainsagar Lake. • Total catchment area 240 sq km • spread over Kukatpally , Yousoufguda , Qutbullapur, Bowenpally , Balanagar, Jeedemetla, &Alwal. • Proposed to take by up Protection categorizing into the following. • Lakes > 10 hectares • Lakes <10 Ha but Prominent & Prone for Encroachment • Lakes of 10 hectares below Rangadhamini Lake.

  34. Slum Improvement • 1. 22 slums around Hussansagar taken up • Through (4) NGOs CARE , SukukiExnora, • CHATRI, APSA NGO • 2. Solid Waste Management • Provision of infrastructure (tri cycles, dumper bins) • Proper Disposal of Solid Waste with Subraks • 3. Community toilets • New Constructions • Repairs to the existing • 4.
