Session aims Learn about potential social media platforms that are available. Gain understanding of why social media might be useful. Promote connection & collaborative working. Share knowledge and requirements of social media platforms with fellow researchers.
What is social media? Communication • Examples: • Blogging (Wordpress, Blogger, Posterous, ...) • Microblogging (Twitter, Tumblr, Google Buzz...) • Social Networking (Facebook, Bebo, Google+ ...) • Location based SN (Foursquare, FB places, Gowalla ..) • Events (Eventbrite, Hotlist, Meetup.com ...) • Also: Crowd Funding, Advertising, and many more
