  2. Introduction The government has completed the consultation on whether to bid for the 2023 Asian Games. Various sectors of society like the major political parties, citizens and athletes have expressed different opinions and concerns. There are different foci of discussion, including the overall advantages and disadvantages of bidding for the Asian Games, the relevant budget, the economy, citizens’ livelihood, social welfare expenditure and long term sports policies.
