Who is Tri-Cities? • Tri-Cities • - Is affiliated with Little League International • Serves Dundee, Carpentersville, parts of Gilberts & Algonquin • Has enrollment of over 700 boys and girls • Offers both baseball & girl’s softball • 50 Baseball Teams & 4 Softball teams • Ages from 5-18 Years Old • 2009 plan includes incorporation of Meadowdale Little League • Has field locations across our boundary map • Randall Oaks • South End Park in West Dundee • Carpentersville Middle School • Meadowdale Fields on Route 25 • Winchester Glen, Silverstone & Kemper • - Has active Parent Involvement • www.tri-citiesll.com
What is Challenger? Challenger Divisions offer boys and girls with physical and mental challenges an opportunity to play baseball - Ages 5 – 18 years Old Teams include 10 - 15 Players Works on the “buddy system” - Pair up Tri-Cities member with Challenger member in the field and at the plate - Actively run the bases with the participants - If they can not run due to wheel chair, buddy pushes Regular baseball games - Tees or coach pitch - 2 Innings (everyone bats) - No Outs - Play Infield or Outfield - No scores kept – every game ends in a tie - Same equipment is worn (helmets, gloves) - Tee ball generally used (soft version of a baseball)
How do we get started? • Goals: • Promote baseball for “all” who want to play • Introduce the program to our league (4 Teams) • Introduce the benefits to working with special needs children to our kids • Have to fun!
