Ephesians 1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessingsin heavenly places in Christ: • God says you were dead in sins Ephesians 2:1-5And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY One of the most important books you could read in the Bible after you get saved is the book of Romans. It’s purpose is to teach the foundational truth of Justification (getting saved) by grace through faith. Romans 3:28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faithwithoutthe deeds of the law. Romans 4:3-5For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not,but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY 1. LOVE THE BRETHREN (A desire for Church) “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7; 1 John 2:9-11; 1 John 3:14-19. 2. DISLIKE FOR SIN For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4 3. LISTENING TO TEACHING and ADVICE OF GODLY CHRISTIANS "We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." 1 John 4:6. If a person is rebellious to Christians over an important issue and refuses to hear (or heed) them, then we are to count him as a heathen. Matthew 18:15-17. 4. OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD OF GOD BECOMES IMPORTANT For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. I John 5:3 5 POSSESSING THE HOLY SPIRIT “And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” I John 3:24; 4:13 6. JESUS CHRIST IS PRECIOUS TO YOU “Unto you therefore which believe he is precious.” 1 Peter 2:7a. 7. GOD DISCIPLINES A TRUE BELIEVER WHEN HE SINS. Hebrews 12:5-11.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY Eternal Security or understanding that we are eternally saved is one of the most helpful doctrines in the Bible. This doctrine is so misunderstood because I believe people combine two questions. • How to be savedand How to live a happy lifeare two different questions. • You can be blessed of God and not be saved. • You can be saved and not have the blessings of God. ECC. 3:14 ‑ I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. God's salvation is just that ‑ His. We had nothing to do with it. If we did, we would have messed up our part. Salvation is a work of God to man, not a work of man to God.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY JOHN 10:28‑30 ‑ And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. • If it was my job to hold on to God, then when I fell, I would lose God. • I'm not holding on to God; God is holding on to me.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY I PETER 1:5 ‑ Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. • You are kept by the power of God. • You are not kept by your power.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY Romans 5:10 ‑ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. • Jesus died to save me • Jesus rose again to keep me saved
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY Psalm 32:1‑2Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputethnot iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. Now look at this same passage in the New Testament Romans 4:6‑8Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. • God says that he will not impute any sin on my record. • How can I go to Hell when nothing bad can be put on my record?
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY Hebrews 13:5 ‑ Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. • Jesus said He would never leave you nor forsake you. • Jesus doesn’t love you because of who you are.Jesus loves you because of who He is.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY Romans 8:37‑39 ‑ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. • Now that you are saved nothing can separate us from the love of God.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY Romans 3:28 ‑ Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. • Conclusion: nothing you do or ever have done has anything at all to do with your salvation. • Question:If you couldn't do anything good to change your position with God before you were saved, how can anything you do bad ever affect your relationship with God after you're saved?
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY 2 Timothy 2:13 ‑ If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. • Even if you stopped believing, He abideth faithful. • Look at (vs. 12) He may say you never lived like He had saved you to live. • (vs. 13) He could never say, "I didn't save you."
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY 2 Peter 1:9 ‑ But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. • It is possible for a saved person to live such a disobedient life that he actually forget He was saved.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY I John 4:18‑19There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. Eternal security is essential because it allows one to serve God because of His unconditional love for them. One who thinks he can lose his salvation, serves God out of fear of losing it; not because of God's unconditional love for him. This is bondage. The best way to grow you is to acquaint you with God’s Love. I still have yet to see the doctrine that you can lose your salvation promote holiness in the lives of those who hold to it.
SALVATION and ETERNAL SECURITY You will never find in the Bible where God threatens His children with HELL if they don’t live right. • God says that He swoons us and woos us with love. Jeremiah 31:3The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. 1 John 4:10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
