Results • Cone calorimeter/FTIR data for flaming and smoldering resin blocks. • Gas concentrations for flaming and smoldering resin blocks in center of 707 cargo compartment. • Smoke levels from flaming resin block in main deck DC-10 cargo compartment. • Detection times for flaming and smoldering resin blocks in below floor DC-10 cargo compartment.

Detector Alarm Time A 1:13 B 1:08 C 1:22 D 1:13 Alarm time is the average of 2 tests. Flaming Resin Resin Block Compartment volume = 3500 cubic feet
Detector Alarm Time A 1:01 B :52 C 1:45 D 1:43* Alarm time is the average of 2 tests. Smoldering Resin Resin Block Compartment volume = 3500 cubic feet * No alarm for one of the tests.
Future Activities • Complete resin block testing in DC-10 below floor compartment. • Run a variety of fires in DC-10 (alcohol soaked rags, suitcases, shredded newspaper). • Develop possible alarm algorithms and compare detection times for the above fires and resin blocks for both the 707 tests and the DC-10 tests.
