Participation in FCAL @ ILC&CLIC IFIN-HH FCAL group (since May 2008): One senior researcher: Dr. Cornelia Coca One Post Doc : Eliza Teodorescu (2007-2012) One Ph. D. Student: Marius Orlandea One software expert: Laurentiu Dumitru We plan on recruiting: 1 young researcher, 2 young Diploma/Masters students
Contributions of IFIN-HH group ▪ Simulation studies for Very Forward detectors of the future LC, ILC and CLIC ILC: Contribution to BeamCal performance studies using either stand-alone software or the general software framework, Mokka, developed for LC detector concepts ◘ Estimation of the expected electromagnetic doses in BeamCal, mandatory study for radiation hardness requirements of the sensors; ◘ Neutron density and fluences in sensor layers and in electronics; ◘The effect on electromagnetic doses and neutron fluxes of additional correction magnetic fields to the solenoid field in which all tracking system is immersed CLIC: Implementation of the final focus quadrupole magnet, QD0, in Mokka and performance studies on this component ◘ Implementation of the current QD0design in the GEANT4-based simulation software MOKKA and simulation of the pair background in a detector model adapted for CLIC. ◘ Estimation of the electromagnetic and neutron doses to the final focus quadrupole QD0 in the CLIC interaction region. • ▪ Contribution to GRID infrastructure • ◘ On the group computing cluster, RO-15-NIPNE, are installed and running the specific software tools for two VO’s, ILC and LHCb. These two VO’s are part of the EGEE. Site ILC used by LCD-CLIC/ 2013 ▪ Participation in beam tests and data analysis ◘ Participation in the experimental setup for sensor and front-end electronics testing at DESY-Hamburg ◘ Participation in experimental data analysis – results will be included in TDR (due in Autumn) • Future Plans • ◘ Continue with FCAL detectors design and optimization studies for a 1 TeV accelerator configuration • ◘ Study the physics potential of the forward calorimeters • ◘ Participation in future beam tests and data analysis and contribute to software
