  2. LAST WEEK UPCOMING EVENTS INVOCATION BOB COOK WILL BE MISSED Past President in 1969 and 41 year member SPEAKER – June 15th Mark Your Calendars! FLORIDA DISTRICT CONVENTION August 24-27, 2006 Heavenly Father: Fill us with your boundless love so that we may pass it on to others, especially to those most in need of compassion and understanding. Remind us that an aim in life is the best fortune worth finding. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen Our dear friend Bob Cook died 12 June 2006 of heart failure. He would have been 78 on July 20, 2006. I have met very few men in my life with his strength of character and devotion to God and his fellow man. In the forty years I have known them, Bob and his wife Peg had been prime examples in my life of what good people should be. I can only regret that more people could not have learned from his intelligence and insight. Bob did all he could and it is his time to rest now. - Butch Shadwell All new members, seasoned members, officers and Board members should plan to attend this annual event for Florida Kiwanians. For those who have been to past Florida conventions, you'll agree that these conventions include a lot of great workshops, speakers, and our election of October 1st District officers--and there is still time for fun, so bring your families. Our club secretary will be getting info on the Convention frequently, and it will be in your Florida Kiwanis magazines--or go to www.Floridakiwanis.com Bill Montgomery From: “Invocations for Kiwanis Occasions” by James J. Muench Some folks you think will always be there.  Ish Brant, Molly Holbert and now Bob Cook, it just points out that no body gets out of this life alive.  Lord willing, the sun will come up in the morning and the birds will all sing and life will seemingly go on.  But the truth is that there is now a void that will take more than four or five men and women to fill.  You don't replace Ish Brants and Bob Cooks and Miss Molly.  The Jacksonville Beach Club is great because of them and will continue to be a great club, because of them. - Sam Long Reading to Head Start Reading to Navy Childcare Center Jacksonville Bch Elmntry Mentoring Annual Children’s Book Gifts Beaches Habitat Scholarship Program (Feb) Fletcher Scholar Program Children’s Miracle Network Jacksonville Science & Eng.
