Bio of LeRoy Neiman • Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on June 8, 1921 • Abandoned by his father at an early age • Coped by drawing • In 1942, he left high school and joined US Army • Studied at University of Chicago, University of Illinois and School of the Art Institute of Chicago, later taught there • Met Hugh Hefner, who started the Playboy magazine in 1953, who featured some of Neiman’s artwork in issues • Became mostly famous for his highly exposed sports art • In 2003, sold “Man at his leisure: Le Mans” for $107,550, the most he’s ever sold a painting for. • In 2007, won the Sport Artist of the Year Award • Sells about 6 different serigraph subjects per year ranging between $3,000 to $6,000 each

  4. Art Techniques • Mostly made Serigraphs- silkscreen printing • etchings, lithographs, oil, enamel, watercolor, pencil drawings, and pastels • Many bright colors • Liked to paint animals, sports, and celebrities.
