Pre-alerting patients with suspected STROKE FAST TEST Facial weakness: • Can the person smile? • Has their mouth or eye drooped? Arm weakness: • Can the person raise both arms? Speech problems: • Can the person speak clearly and understand what you say? Time to call 999 Pre-alert Emergency Department saying ‘FAST POSITIVE STROKE PATIENT’ The following must be present: • Positive FAST test. • Onset within last two hours. • Age 18-80 years. • Conscious or easily rousable. • No seizures/fits. • Blood sugar more than 3 mmol/l. • Not on warfarin. ***BRING A WITNESS IF POSSIBLE*** NB: Document FAST test on PRF
