  2. Define E learning • Is E learning only for use with anything electronic? • Is E learning only used to support learning and teaching through the use of electronic devices? • Can e learning be done without a teacher? • What kind of experience can be achieved through e learning?

  3. Is E learning only for use with anything electronic? • We can still learn about e learning through books and lectures

  4. Is E learning only used to support learning and teaching through the use of electronic devices? • Some teaching levels can be done using electronics devices and some have the need of human instruction. (Reiser, R. & Dempsey, J, page 282)

  5. What kind of experience can be achieved through e learning? • The EXPERIENCE of e learning includes: such factors as: Curiosity Practice Engagement Simulation

  6. Collaboration • Which of these is not a form of collaboration? Distance learning email Chat Working together telephone

  7. Collaboration • When people work together to accomplish a common task forms a collaboration. • This can be done in any type of communication including smoke signals and Morse code. • There are many ways people can interact.

  8. Chat • This form of collaboration is the most used form of communication. • It is a quick and easy way to talk through texting. • The problem with this quick form of communication is people get misunderstood and lose track of the real form of communication. • Chatting can be done online through the internet or from a cellular phone.

Email • This online form of communication allows people and businesses to collaborate together. • It is a semiformal way to write letters to each other using the internet to transmit the letters. • Messages can be sent with the added attachment of documents, pictures, videos, and other material.

  10. Blog • The internet used website that individuals or a group of individuals can collaborate together about common issues. • Anyone can post about anything at anytime. • The information might not be correct or accurate

  11. Instructional Design Model • A image or graph that shows a two or three dimensional display of what the instruction is containing. • Very similar to the use of flow charts for programming computer software.

The Many Uses Of Media • Media can have different characteristics. • Media can be a program on the computer to help aid in learning or help a speaker to describe their meaning. • Media can take the form of audio, video, art, graphics, design, internet, and many others • Adding media to a learning tool makes it better and more interactive.

  15. Virtual Courses • Any type of course that can be taken with the use of the internet or electronic learning aid.

Syllabus • Explanations of policies and procedures • Expectations and formats for assignments • Communicating with the instructor on private matters versus questions of interest to all students in the class must be clear • List of assignments and locations of relevant rubrics or examples • Course schedule • Technology expectations and basic troubleshooting • Resources and services that the institution provides to online students

Helpful Hints!! • Suggestions that can help the online user from not freaking out are always helpful • ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP PLAN!!! • Suggest ways to locate WIFI spots, have car cigarette adapters for the laptop charger, save data on thumb drives or other backup devices just in case, and always work smart.

Virtual Classrooms • Most of the virtual classrooms are a informal way of learning without the use of a teacher. • They are self paced and self disciplined. • If the teacher can interact with the students then their impact should be great. • Encouragement, kindness, a push in the right direction, monitoring of what is going on, and evaluation as needed.
