CLUB EVU • MISSION STATEMENT EVU is a junior hockey club placed in Western Vantaa EVU’s mission is to improve, develop and maintain junior ice hockey in Vantaa • VISION AND GOALS EVU’s vision is to provide a enjoyable hobby for a large number of boys and girls. In order to reach its vision and goals, the club seeks to provide best possible circumstances and atmosphare where playing ice hockey is challenging and fun and at same time players can improve their skills. • WAS FOUNDED in 1969

CLUB EVU • Skateschool and 29 teams in 12 different age groups (99-born to B89-born, women and EVU seniors) • Sport play school and afternoon sport groups • Hockey Carneval and outdoor skate schools • Morning practice on ice for players in elementary and high schools • Unified operations in each team (seasonal operational plan, team rules, coaching guide lines) EVU members: appx. 700 children, youth and adult
CLUB EVU • Chief of coaching (full time employee) • One coach (part time employee) • Two part time employee (office manager and equipment manager) • Trainees from sports academies • In the teams voluntary personel: coaches, goalkeeper coaches, off-ice coaches, team managers, equipment managers, accountants
CLUB EVU • EVU is one of the Young Finland Association’s Seal Clubs = Quality certificate club for child and youth sport • The Seal Club’s promises: -> every child is equally treated -> in team operations youth educational matters are considered -> we provide joy and feeling of success for every child -> the club provides continuous education for coaches and other personel

EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS A) Invitation to audit at 8th September 05 • Announcement of audit content • Schedule of audit • Questionares (=questions required from the club) • Questionares including attachments to be returned by 29th September 05 Pre information about audit and questions were only very general

EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS B) Activities in the club • Key persons familiarized themselves with the documents (chair man, members of the board and chief of coaching) • The large scope of audit was a surprise • Areas of responsibilities were divided to different persons and the work began • Gathering and summerizing of documents • Return of all documents was done by 29th Sep 05 (at 23.55) • Informing the participating persons for the audit day (chair man, chief of coaching, two coaches, two team managers, one team equipment manager, one team accountant, two parents from two different age groups)

EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS C) Audit day (12th October 05 at 09.00-17.00) • auditors: district manager Turkka Tervomaa and coach instructor Arto Sieppi from Finnish Ice Hockey Association • Present from the club: chair man and chief of coaching together • Chief of coaching alone • Player’s father from the age group of 91-born and mother from the age group of 93-born • Two team managers from age groups of 91- and 95-born and one equipment manager from the age group of 95- and 91-born • Head coaches from the age groups of 91- and 92-born The auditors checked and verified in detail the answers the club had given to questionaries and attachements.

EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS D) Feedback day (19th January 06) • The feedback was given by district manager Turkka Tervomaa • The feedback was received verbally, in writing including the scores of nine different dimensions • The chair man of the club and chief of coaching participated the feedback day

2. EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS ACTION POINTS • Chair man and chief of coaching studied the feedback in detail • The feedback was discussed in the board of directors meeting • The feedback was presented to the team managers • The feedback was presented to team coaches

EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS ACTION POINTS • Three development areas were defined: (1) Ice hockey education: bringing coaching strategy up to date, guidelines for goalkeeper coaching, improvement of development follow- up system for skaters, improvement of off-ice – coaching 2) Support functions: health education guidelines, improvement of mental coaching 3) Organisation: improvement of long time planning, further clarification of responsibility areas and motivation programme for voluntary personel.
2. EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS ACTION POINTS • The announcement to the members of the club including audit scores and club ranking • Press release and article on local news paper Vantaan Sanomat • The club starts action on the defined development areas

EVU’s QUALITY AUDITVIEW POINTS • The audit was very extensive, demanding and time consuming • The audit gave good information about the club’s current situation and the tools for development • The audit has improved the efficiancy in the club and standardized operations in different teams • The commitment and motivation have improved among the club personel • The audit has improved the parent’s trust on club’s operations • on tuonut seuralle positiivista julkisuutta
