  4. “Heavenly Counselor” • unityof the Godhead in creation. • “God said” – “God made” (Gen 1) • God’sUNITY in creating man. • “Let Us make man” (Gen 1:26) • God’sUNITY with the Agent of creation. • John 1:1-3; Col 1:13-19; Heb 1:10-12 • GodsUNITY in His plan for man’s salvation. • Eph 1:3-4; 1 Pet 1:20; Eph 3:10-11 • John 16:13; 1 Cor 2:6-12; Eph 6:17

  5. “Earthly Counselor” • God counseled Jacob(Gen 28:10-22)! • Jesus counseled His disciples. • Penetrating (Matt 8:19-22; 15:10-20). • Preemptive (Luke 22:24-27; John 13:31 – 14:27). • Disciplinary(Rev 3:18). • His counsel to us follows this same pattern, but through His word in the New Testament.

  6. “Earthly Counselor” • Jesus counsels for us: • Heb 7:25 – “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” • To go to a person, for the purpose of conversation, consultation, or supplication (Thayer's). • Heb 4:14-16

  7. “Earthly Counselor” • Jesus counsels with us: • 1 John 2:1 – “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. • One who pleads another's case withone. A helper, aider, assistant (Thayer's)
