Brick Bricks are the basic LEGO building pieces. They are measured by the studs on top. This is a 2X2 brick.
Plate Plates look like flat bricks, they are measured by their studs. This is a 2X4 plate.
Beam Beams have studs on the top and holes in the sides. They are always measured by the studs. This is a 16 beam.
Studless Beams These can be straight or angled. They are measured by the number of holes in the side.
AXLE Axles vary in size and color.
To measure an axle, you compare it to the number of studs on a beam. This is a 6 axle.
Bushings You have two different sizes/colors in your kit. Bushings are usually used for spacing or connecting.
Connectors Connectors may be different colors and have different ends but they are always used to connect 2 things.
Connectors Each one serves a very specific purpose. These are special connectors, notice how they have two different ends.
Gears This is a 16 tooth gear. Gears are measured by the number of teeth they have. This is a 24 tooth gear.
NXT Brick This acts as the brain of your robot. All of your programs are stored here.
Servo Motors This is the ONLY part of your robot that moves. If you want something to happen, it must be connected to one of these motors.
Sound Sensors Ultra Sonic Touch These are how your robot gathers information about the world around them. Light
Wires These wires connect your NXT brick to it’s motors and it’s sensors.
Programming your robot When you come to the computer to program your robot you will see a screen like this. There are two important parts of this screen.
Programming block Configuration panel This is what you insert to tell your robot what you want it to do. This controls the specifics of the programming, like what direction and for how long you want the motor to move.
