  2. KEY PROBLEMS • Difficulty meeting demand for Allied Health services – growing waiting lists. • Shortage of comprehensive range of Allied Health private services, particularly in Paediatric and Women’s Health specialty areas. • Loss of Allied Health staff to the private sector.

  3. INNOVATIONS IMPLEMENTED • Private, stand-alone Allied Health Clinic providing Allied Health ambulatory services for Adults, Women and Children. • Dietetics • Occupational Therapy • Physiotherapy • Massage (as adjunct to Physio) • Speech Pathology • Psychology

  4. RESULTS Activity Mix by Discipline (% average) Proportion of H&WC staff also working within Mater Public hospitals Activity Trend (hours/mth)

  5. HOW WE DID IT • Stand-alone facility fitted out. • Mater employed staff given option of sessions at the clinic. • Provider Numbers obtained • Marketing Plan – Private Specialists, Private Hospitals • Principles and policies developed.

  6. LESSONS LEARNT • Leadership from senior staff. • Staff choice. • Marketing. • Clear policies. • Time – it always takes longer than you think. • Central driver / project person.
