Timeline: July-August • School selection • 2-4 stretch schools • 6-8 medium schools • 2-4 safety schools • Selection of schools based on realistic situations of: • Academic quality • Merit • Affordability
Timeline: September-October • Applications • Individual schools • Common Application • Is Early Decision part of your algorithm? • SAT/ACT exams • Recommendations: • Process • Teacher/counselor/personal • Deadlines
Timeline: September-October • Transcripts • Official, sealed • $2.00 each • Note: request deadlines • Schedule auditions • Live • Pebblebrook • College • Unified (Musical Theatre and Drama) • Recorded
Timeline: September-October • Coordinated folders containing: • Checklist • Resume • Repertoire • Headshot • Activities sheet • Consider campus visits if not already done.
Add’l Points - Vocal Major • When going to school, Contact Dean of Music to set up meeting, tour & sit in on classes if can • Contact existing student(s) to find voice teacher recommendations • Contact 1st choice to set up trial lesson • Have questions ready/Know your stuff • Pre-screening DVDs very important!!!!!! – send note to Dean & Teacher met
Add’l Points - Musical Theatre • Know each school’s audition requirements, i.e. song types and monologue. • Check schools for fit: size of program, cut policy, BA or BFA, performance limitations. • Set up campus visit, take a few classes and see a show.
Timeline: November-December • Most schools have deadlines in November and December • Some schools need completed application or pre-screening DVD/CDs before an audition will be scheduled • Schedule auditions
