For animals such as racehorses and greyhounds, their value is often considered to be in their ability to race, and when they can no longer race, they may be killed. Kathleen Gerenger supports the quality of life of animals who can no longer race. Kathleen Gerenger volunteers for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation of New York to rescue and rehabilitate racehorses whose careers have ended.
